Chinese medicine was my first love in this herbal medicine (although now equal to acupuncture). Read more about this healing modality that can help you with digestive health, pain management, hormones and menopause, and much more.
For thousands of years in China, herbs have been methodically studied and used to promote health and wellness. Their medicinal properties were thoroughly documented over centuries through emipirical observation and clinical trial and error.
The first known compilation text, The Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing, consisting of 365 herbs, and was written in the 2nd century. Scattered listings of herbal medicinals with case studies have been found dating to about 3000 years ago. And although the oral history of TCM remains uncertain before written history, some archaeological findings of acupuncture needles and traces of herbal treatments suggest 4000 to 8000 years of existence.
Currently the Materia Medica of Chinese Herbal Medicine consists of over 11,000 substances, mostly plant material. I am well versed in hundreds single herbs and hundreds of what we call "Classical Formulas." These formulas have stood the test of time and become the foundation of modern Chinese Herbal Medicine, having been used and revered for hundreds or even some for thousands of years.
I offer custom herbal formulas that can be used to treat a wide variety of conditions. I primarily use tinctures in which I chose the one most appropriate classical Chinese herb formula for the base (of hundreds) and modify it with single herbs to create a formula just for you that addresses your chief concerns.
I source my herbs from a California company called KW Botanicals:
" Organic, wildcrafted, and fresh herbs yield fluid extracts of maximum therapeutic value. For the past 34 years, KW Botanicals has built a network of over 60 organic growers and ethical wildcrafters throughout the US, growing our fresh herbs in their ideal climate and soil, and harvesting at the optimal stage for peak vitality, active ingredients, and clinical effectiveness. We are actively developing new sources of organically grown and wildcrafted Chinese and Western herbs for our inventory. "
The superior potency and efficacy promotes a rapid response and shorter administration time. The quality assures that the herbs are grown without herbicides, pesticides or exposure to heavy metals. This kind of mindful sourcing is extremely important to me as it is my professional intention to promote wellness, not hinder it.
